Operation Enduring Wildlife is the veteran-forward initiative of the Wildlife Justice Foundation. Our mission is to connect U.S. military veterans with hands-on wildlife conservation and anti-poaching work in the U.S. and South Africa, building purpose, resilience, and employable field skills while protecting threatened species.
Why it matters
OEW channels our strength into conservation through initiatives such as de-snaring and fence-line sweeps, habitat monitoring, ranger basics, and community education. The result is real impact for wildlife, and a renewed sense of camaraderie and purpose for those who served.
What we do
Immersion Bush Camp (South Africa): Multi-day, boots-on-the-ground training in North West Province, covering anti-poaching awareness, fieldcraft, tracking, and ethical conservation practices.
Skills & Career Pathways: Practical modules (navigation, first aid, radio comms, observation & reporting) that translate to conservation, park services, and outdoor leadership roles.
Community Conservation: Veterans help deliver outreach that reduces snaring, supports local stewardship, and strengthens human-wildlife coexistence.
U.S. Engagement & Events: Talks, fundraisers, and volunteer days that keep alumni connected and invite the public to support the mission.
Who it’s for
U.S. veterans and transitioning service members, no prior conservation experience required. Commitment, teamwork, and respect for wildlife are our entry requirements.
How to help
Sponsor a veteran, donate gear or funds, host an OEW event, or shop at WildFinds, our Easton, MA nonprofit shop—proceeds power veteran scholarships and field operations.
